A study in mice demonstrated that the miR-30c-5p is significantly downregulated during all stages of myocardial infarction and exerts anti-apoptotic effects in cardiomyocytes by directly targeting the pro-apoptotic genes Picalm and Skil [Kim et al. In human patients with acute spinal cord injury, plasma levels of the miR-30c-5p were downregulated at emergency room admission and showed a divergent regulatory pattern compared to polytrauma patients without neurotrauma [Hörauf et al.
