Forensic Context

A review of human studies identified the mir-323a as being downregulated 6 hours post-burn in heat-shocked skin epidermal stem cells compared to controls [Siu et al. DOI:10.1111/wrr.13100]. A study in humans demonstrated that the mir-323a is differentially expressed in blood samples from monozygotic twins, where it was shared across two pairs of twins and validated as a potential biomarker for distinguishing genetically identical individuals in forensic identification [Xiao et al. DOI:10.1016/j.fsigen.2019.05.003].
