A study in humans demonstrated that a combination of circulating miR-744-3p, miR-324-3p, and miR-330-3p was significantly upregulated in patients with plaque rupture compared to those with plaque erosion, with a diagnostic model achieving an area under the ROC curve of 0.768 in an independent test set [Li et al. DOI:10.1016/j.ygeno.2020.11.019]. In a separate human study, hsa-miR-330-5p was identified as part of a competing endogenous RNA regulatory network predicted to interact with core prognostic mRNA biomarkers CD247, IL2RB, and TGFBR3 in sepsis [Zhang et al. DOI:10.1186/s12920-023-01460-8].
