A study in humans demonstrated that the miR-338-3p was differentially expressed in three pairs of monozygotic twins, as identified through miRNA sequencing [Wang et al. DOI:10.1016/j.fsigen.2025.103230]. A study in human postmortem prefrontal cortex tissue demonstrated that the miR-338-3p was up-regulated by >40% in schizophrenia subjects, though this change was not statistically significant (p=0.059) [Smalheiser et al. DOI:10.1371/journal.pone.0086469].
