Forensic Context

A study in humans demonstrated that the miR-34a-3p was selected as a candidate for saliva identification from microarray and literature data [Sauer et al. DOI:10.1016/j.fsigen.2016.01.018]. A study in mice demonstrated that the miR-34a-3p was upregulated in liver tissue following whole-body ionizing radiation exposure (4 Gy) and was part of a p53-mediated response network [Lu et al. DOI:10.1002/cbin.10627]. In a separate mouse model of perinatal glyphosate exposure, the miR-34a-3p was identified as a component of a competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA) network in the hippocampus, interacting with specific lncRNAs (ENSMUST00000137546, ENSMUST00000160950) and target mRNAs (Il12b, Irf1) implicated in neurotoxicity [Xingli Fan et al. DOI:10.1002/jdn.10102].
