A study in human cadavers demonstrated that exosomes and exosomal miRNAs, including the mir-371a-5p, are stably preserved in postmortem serum for at least three days when stored at or below 20°C [Kanno et al. DOI:10.1007/S00414-022-02913-Y]. Furthermore, bioinformatic analysis of human hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) plasma samples identified the mir-371a-5p as an upregulated miRNA component within a competing endogenous RNA network, predicted to target key hypoxia- and immune-related genes in HCM [Yu et al.
