Forensic Context

A study in humans demonstrated that the mir-375 is significantly decreased in the plasma of acute myocardial infarction (MI) patients compared to healthy controls, with this novel association validated by next-generation sequencing and RT-qPCR, showing a fold change of -2.1 and an AUC of 0.87 for diagnostic accuracy [Baulina et al. DOI:10.1016/j.yjmcc.2018.07.129]. Another human study in young acute coronary syndrome patients identified the mir-375 as down-regulated via small RNA sequencing in ST-elevation MI, though this specific finding was not significant in subsequent qRT-PCR validation [Tong et al. DOI:10.3390/ijms19051467].
