Forensic Context

A study in humans demonstrated that hsa-miR-379 is upregulated in burn hypertrophic scar (HS) tissue and its derived fibroblasts compared to normal skin and fibroblasts [Siu et al. DOI:10.1111/wrr.13100]. Another human study identified hsa-miR-379-5p as significantly decreased in pericardial-fluid-derived exosomes from acute myocardial infarction cases compared to controls, highlighting its potential as a postmortem diagnostic biomarker [Kim et al. DOI:10.3390/ijms25179619]. A study in mice demonstrated that the mir-379 was differentially expressed after 56Fe ions irradiation in blood [Jia et al. DOI:10.3389/fcell.2022.861451]. In rats, the mir-379 was downregulated in penis tissue in age-related erectile dysfunction models [Song et al. DOI:10.3389/fendo.2022.1034043].
