A study in humans demonstrated that the miR-3907 is differentially expressed across monozygotic twin pairs, being shared across two pairs and suggesting a role in distinguishing genetically identical individuals [Xiao et al. DOI:10.1016/j.fsigen.2019.05.003]. In separate human skin research, the miR-3907 was found to be upregulated in hypertrophic scar tissue compared to normal skin and downregulated in hypertrophic scar tissue versus normal tissue, indicating involvement in burn response and scarring processes [Siu et al. DOI:10.1111/wrr.13100].
