Forensic Context
A study in human cardiac tissue from forensic autopsies demonstrated that the DNAJA4 mRNA was downregulated in cases of mechanical asphyxia compared to craniocerebral injury, identifying it as a potential biomarker for mechanical asphyxia-induced death [Zeng et al. DOI:10.1007/S00414-017-1616-4]. A separate transcriptomic analysis of human post-mortem tissues from sepsis patients found the DNAJA4 gene was downregulated as part of the inhibited protein folding pathway in the lungs and brain during septic shock [Pinheiro da Silva et al.
