Dendritic cells (DCs) provide the key link between innate and adaptive immunity by recognizing pathogens and priming pathogen-specific immune responses. A study in human pediatric sepsis patients demonstrated that the FLT3LG exhibited increased polyadenylation in viral compared to bacterial infection samples when analyzed using Nanopore direct RNA sequencing of whole blood [He et al. A study in mice demonstrated that lethal total-body irradiation significantly elevated serum FLT-3L (Flt3 ligand) from day 1 post-exposure, with an increasing linear trend through day 9, as validated by ELISA (p < 0.001) [Chakraborty et al. This protein is identified as a marker for bone marrow aplasia and hematologic cancer, underscoring its role as an early signature of radiation-induced hematopoietic injury.
