A systematic review of human and mouse studies compiled numerous biomarkers for wound age estimation and vitality differentiation [Ros et al. DOI:10.3389/fmed.2021.786798]. A study in human post-mortem cardiac tissue demonstrated that the FUT4 showed a strong positive immunoreaction with widespread expression in cases of acute myocardial infarction (AMI), while it was negative in cases of sudden cardiac death and traumatic death controls, establishing it as a sensitive immunohistochemical marker for AMI diagnosis at autopsy [Pinchi et al.
