Epididymis Secretory Sperm Binding Protein
Enables several functions, including ATP hydrolysis activity; heat shock protein binding activity; and unfolded protein binding activity. Involved in cellular response to heat and protein refolding. Located in COP9 signalosome; centriole; and cytosol. [provided by Alliance of Genome Resources, Jul 2025]
Forensic Context
A study in human HT-29 colorectal adenocarcinoma cells demonstrated that the HSPA6 was the most highly induced gene (1035.59-fold) following arsenic trioxide exposure according to microarray analysis [Kazuta et al. DOI:10.1016/J.Legalmed.2026.102774]. In human skin, analysis of temporal gene expression after thermal injury found the HSPA6 to be significantly up-regulated in burned tissue compared to normal skin [Greco et al. DOI:10.1016/j.burns.2009.06.211].
