Contributes to immunoglobulin receptor binding activity. Involved in glomerular filtration and positive regulation of respiratory burst. Located in extracellular space. Part of monomeric IgA immunoglobulin complex and secretory dimeric IgA immunoglobulin complex. [provided by Alliance of Genome Resources, Jul 2025]
A study in humans demonstrated that the IGHA1 was increased in expression within B2 and B3 B cell subgroups in peripheral blood mononuclear cells from an irradiated patient, where it was associated with inflammatory and immune response pathways [Yan et al. DOI:10.3892/etm.2025.12846]. Separate research in humans identified the IGHA1 as part of the principal component 2 of spatially variable genes, showing higher enrichment in the cavernosal artery region of the corpus cavernosum [Yin et al. DOI:10.1016/j.celrep.2024.114760].
