A study in rhesus macaques identified the MEDAG as a differentially expressed gene upregulated in left ventricular tissue from animals with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy [Rivas et al. DOI:10.1038/s41598-024-82770-4]. In a separate study investigating UVB-induced inflammatory pain in humans and rats, the MEDAG was found to be upregulated in skin at the peak of hyperalgesia, with a fold change of 10.9 in human skin and 3.4 in rat skin [Dawes et al. DOI:10.1371/journal.pone.0093338].
