A study in mice demonstrated that the MT-CO1 (mt-co1) was used as a stable reference gene for constructing postmortem interval (PMI) estimation models in brain tissue across multiple temperatures (4°C, 25°C, and 35°C) [Song et al. A study in rats demonstrated that the MT-CO1 gene expression increased at 3 and 12 hours post-traumatic brain injury, with protein levels significantly increasing in a time-dependent manner in the ipsilateral cortex at 6, 12, and 48 hours [Shojo et al.
