A study in mice demonstrated that alcohol-induced alcoholic liver disease significantly up-regulated the expression of the MVD gene, a key enzyme in the terpenoid backbone biosynthesis pathway, and this up-regulation was inhibited by treatment with Gentiana dahurica Fisch ethanol extract [Cao et al.
