Forensic Context
A study in humans demonstrated that the PAMR1 transcript is upregulated 1.4-fold in the dopamine cell-enriched midbrain of chronic cocaine abusers compared to controls and was diagnostic for assigning subject cohorts with 76% to 93% accuracy [Bannon et al. DOI:10.1038/Npp.2014.70]. In mice, spatial transcriptomics identified the PAMR1 transcript as enriched in a specific medial prefrontal cortex cluster corresponding to cortical layers 2/3 [Salem et al. DOI:10.1016/J.Nbd.2023.106361].
