Enables signaling receptor binding activity and trans-2-enoyl-CoA reductase (NADPH) activity. Involved in phytol metabolic process. Located in peroxisome. [provided by Alliance of Genome Resources, Jul 2025]
Forensic Context
A study in Apoe-/- mice demonstrated that cigarette smoke exposure induced proteomic and transcriptomic dysregulation in the liver, including the downregulation of the PECR which is involved in peroxisomal lipid and bile acid metabolism [Lo Sasso et al. DOI: 10.3109/08958378.2016.1150368].
