A study in humans demonstrated that the PPP4C mRNA was up-regulated by 26% in pericontusional brain tissue from a traumatic brain injury patient (T4) compared to control tissue, as identified via cDNA microarray analysis [Michael et al. DOI:10.1016/j.jocn.2004.11.003]. Separately, a proteomic analysis in humans identified the PPP4C protein as a discriminatory marker for vaginal fluid classification, exhibiting a Gini impurity score of 0 and being present in all pure vaginal fluid samples and in some mixtures containing this fluid [Shehata et al.
