Summary

The protein encoded by this gene is a guanine nucleotide exchange factor that activates the oncogenes HRAS and RAP1A. Defects in this gene have been associated with systemic lupus erythematosus and several cancers. [provided by RefSeq, Mar 2017]

Forensic Context

A study in humans identified the RASGRP3 as a potential biomarker for early detection and diagnosis of cardiovascular disease in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus, where it was found to be upregulated and associated with four SNPs in an mRNA-SNP-miRNA interaction network, affecting endothelial cell signal transduction in angiogenesis [Fan et al.
