Summary

This gene encodes a protein that binds the cancer-testis antigen Synovial Sarcoma X breakpoint 2 protein. The encoded protein may regulate the activity of Synovial Sarcoma X breakpoint 2 protein in malignant cells. Alternate splicing results in multiple transcript variants. A study in human postmortem nucleus accumbens tissue from subjects with alcohol dependence identified the SSX2IP as a target mRNA within a significant circRNA-miRNA-mRNA interaction network, where it was positively correlated with circRNA-406742 and negatively correlated with miR-1200 [Vornholt et al.
