Enables RNA polymerase II-specific DNA-binding transcription factor binding activity; mitogen-activated protein kinase kinase binding activity; and protein kinase inhibitor activity. Involved in several processes, including JNK cascade; negative regulation of lipopolysaccharide-mediated signaling pathway; and regulation of protein kinase activity. Located in cytoplasm and nucleus. [provided by Alliance of Genome Resources, Apr 2025]
A study in humans demonstrated that the TRIB1 exhibits statistically significant rhythmic expression in blood, with peak expression occurring in the afternoon (15:30-17:00 h), and was identified as a candidate mRNA marker for estimating blood deposition time [Lech et al. DOI:10.1016/J.Fsigen.2015.12.008]. A subsequent study in a Chinese Han population selected the TRIB1 as a candidate biomarker based on literature, though its rhythmic expression results were not reported in the experimental findings [Cheng et al. DOI:10.1016/J.Fsigen.2023.102910].
