Enables arachidonate-CoA ligase activity and fatty acyl-CoA hydrolase activity. Acts upstream of or within fatty acid metabolic process. Located in cytosol and mitochondrion. [provided by Alliance of Genome Resources, Jul 2025]
Forensic Context
A study in humans demonstrated that the ACSBG2 exhibits high specificity for semen identification, as part of a target RNA sequencing panel for body fluid mixture deconvolution [Yu et al. DOI:10.1016/j.fsigen.2025.103416]. A separate review noted that the ACSBG2 is among stable RNA markers used for time since deposition estimation in semen over 0–1.5 years [Lei et al. DOI:10.1093/gpbjnl/qzag007].
