Forensic Context
A study in rhesus macaques demonstrated that chronic ethanol self-administration broadly altered brain transcriptomes, identifying the CDK18 as a positively correlated hub gene within a coexpression network in the central nucleus of the amygdala, where its expression was associated with excessive ethanol intake [Iancu et al. DOI:10.1111/Adb.12501]. Cross-species research further identified the CDK18 as a key hub node correlated with ethanol consumption in macaque transcriptome analyses, supporting its role within conserved molecular networks associated with alcohol-related behaviors [Farris et al. DOI:10.1016/J.Alcohol.2017.11.036].
