Forensic Context

A review consolidating existing research indicates that in mammalian neural tissue, the circRMST is a synaptically-enriched circular RNA that is abundant in the dendritic arbor, suggesting a role in synaptic function [Mehta et al. DOI:10.1016/j.pneurobio.2020.101746]. A study in humans demonstrated that the circRMST is a highly specific circular RNA marker for semen identification [Yu et al. DOI:10.1016/j.fsigen.2025.103416].
