Forensic Context

A study in humans demonstrated that circXPO1 is highly expressed in early stages of hepatocellular carcinoma, bladder cancers, and breast cancer, and its decreased expression in myocardial tissues is associated with improved cardiac function after acute myocardial infarction [Sema Misir et al. DOI:10.1038/s41418-022-00948-7]. A study in human coronary artery samples from a single autopsy case demonstrated that circXPO1 was identified as a co-overexpressed circRNA in both the left anterior descending and right coronary artery samples, classifying it as a potential biomarker associated with coronary atherosclerosis [Hou et al. DOI:10.1002/jcla.23552].
