Members of the ARID protein family, including ARID5A, have diverse functions but all appear to play important roles in development, tissue-specific gene expression, and regulation of cell growth (Patsialou et al., 2005 [PubMed 15640446]).[supplied by OMIM, Mar 2008]
A study in Sprague-Dawley rats demonstrated that the ARID5A mRNA expression in contused skeletal muscle was significantly higher than controls at multiple time points from 4 to 48 hours post-injury and was incorporated into an optimized "up, no change, or down" model for wound age estimation, which achieved an internal validation accuracy of 0.71 [Dang et al. DOI:10.1007/s00414-020-02411-z]. A subsequent rat study confirmed its time-dependent expression pattern within 24 hours post-injury and further showed that ratios involving the ARID5A expression (e.g., Arid5a/Ier3, Arid5a/Lcp1) provided distinct temporal information, improving the accuracy of multiple prediction models for wound age estimation when used as additional input variables [Li et al. DOI:10.1007/s00414-023-03095-x].
