Forensic Context

A study in human samples identified C6orf58 as a candidate mRNA marker for nasal mucosa, but it was excluded from the final forensic multiplex due to poor performance on target tissues [van den Berge et al. DOI:10.1016/j.fsigen.2015.10.011]. A review of forensic proteomics literature identifies the C6orf58 as a protein marker found in saliva for body fluid identification [Alex et al. DOI:10.1016/j.scijus.2025.101320].
